The firm

Fox Williams offers a different career lifestyle to that of our industry competitors.  The quality of our work and the standard of our lawyers (associates) is equal to that of any large City firm. Where we differ is our culture and collaborative nature. You will quickly get to know everyone from the Senior Partner to the most junior staff.  Many of our staff join us from top firms for that very reason.

The department

Our six-partner commercial litigation & arbitration practice works closely with our thriving corporate, commercial, FinTech and employment law departments and has grown to be one of the best outside the Magic Circle, including our securities litigation group which launched earlier this year.

The opportunity

As a key member of a small team at the heart of the firm, you will work closely with Andrew Hill, the head of our securities litigation practice, and you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise advising a wide range of international clients.

Responsibilities

Ideally:

  • You will have a demonstrable interest in securities litigation (also known as shareholder litigation) under s90 of Financial Services & Markets Act (FSMA) (prospectus liability) and/or under section 90A of FSMA (liability for statements to the market), either on the claimant or defendant side.
  • You will have an understanding of, group litigation (under CPR 19.10) and/or class actions and/or collective redress and/or representative proceedings (under CPR 19.6), either on the claimaint or the defendant side.
  • You will have an understanding of third party litigation funders and/or ATE insurers
  • You will enjoy the opportunity to proactively pitch potential case theories internally, to potential funders and to potential clients.
  • You will have a positive attitude and understand that litigation is a contingent asset for a client, a potential recovery opportunity, rather than a negative.
  • You will be excited by the opportunity to join a young/new team and to work alongside Andrew Hill to help him grow the securities litigation practice.
  • You enjoy working on a developing area of law and practice in the UK and are excited by the opportunity to be on the cutting edge.
  • You are genuinely interested in promoting and improving good corporate governance and investor stewardship.
Personal attributes and skills

With us you’ll find that your pro-active mindset, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and your willingness to take ownership are highly valued and rewarded. There will be plenty of opportunity to further develop your career by getting involved and being supported in substantial business development initiatives.
