The IT team of eight is managed by the Head of IT and is located in the Uxbridge office.  The team is organised on the basis of an IT training sub team, a software development sub-team and a systems and projects sub-team which includes an outsourced IT support service provided by Oosha.

The IT trainer role is part of the IT team and will be working with two other trainers providing training, knowledge transfer, guidance and mentoring to a professional group within the business.  The post holder will be expected to work closely with the IT senior developer and the IT senior systems analyst to help deliver new projects within the organisation as well as with the HR team on designing and organising induction and on-going IT training.  The post-holder will be expected to have some input into interpreting helpdesk trend information and provide training from time to time for the outsourced helpdesk function.  Travel to see the outsourced suppliers in London and to the Chesham branch office is a requirement of the role.  This is a technical management role and there are no reports or line management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Assess individual and group training requirements to ensure that end users have the appropriate skills to perform their job. 
  2. Design and develop new/existing courses and prepare relevant course materials, responding to the on-going and changing needs of the business.
  3. Identify appropriate methods of delivery responding to internal client needs and learning styles.
  4. Deliver effective and innovative courses to both new and existing staff, reflecting best practice.
  5. Preparing for courses and relevant administration responsibilities are also a key part of the IT Trainer role.
  6. Evaluate and assess employee training programmes to ensure they achieve the Firm’s strategic objectives.
  7. Review and improve training material and current training solutions to ensure consistency and relevance of courses. 
  8. Maintain an up to date knowledge of new software developments reflecting the changing IT requirements of the Firm.
  9. Implement research as appropriate to supplement knowledge to ensure a fuller understanding of the business processes
  10. Develop online training material to enable ‘on-demand’ personal, individual training when required.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in training and/or IT training.
     
  • Good GSCE passes in English and Maths.
     
  • Proficiency in written English.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience of IT training
  • Previous experience of working within a professional services environment particularly legal would be an advantage
  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook 2010 and earlier
  • Experience of : case management and practice management software (accounts, time recording and business process management); SOS Connect, LaserForm; iManage DMS, Bighand and mobile working (Desirable)
  • Experience of coaching and influencing with the ability to provide timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas
