Job Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to audit fee earner files against the LawNet/Lexcel quality standards; prepare monthly compliance reports; undertake general risk and compliance administration and assist with updating of the office manual.

This is a post which will allow the right candidate to be part of a small and friendly team in an ambitious and growing law firm, and will afford the opportunity to gain good quality compliance experience across a broad range of issues.

Key Responsibilities

1. To provide high quality compliance support to the IBB partners, the Head of Risk & Compliance and the Risk and Compliance Manager to include:

  • Ensuring that files are audited in compliance with the quality standards as set out in the office manual
  • Ensuring that partners, team leaders and employees receive effective and appropriate advice and support on the results of monthly/annual internal audits with follow up checks within 28 days to ensure rectification

  • Preparing reports for presentation internally and externally at appropriate intervals

  • Ensuring that compliance learning and development (L&D) strategies are supported effectively and that the risk plans are tested and monitored
  • Co-ordinating and preparing accreditation (Eg WIQS and CQS) and panel applications.
  • Liaising with our training and on-line providers in relation to any queries that may arise.
  • Dealing with the firm's online presence.
  • Undertaking legal research tasks for the team using platforms such as LexisNexis and Practical Law.

2. To contribute to and engage with the IBB strategy to build a reputation as a quality supplier in all the markets we serve to include:

  • Participating in the preparation for external audits and co-ordinating the administration connected with managing the audit process

  • Working on ad hoc risk and compliance projects

  • Updating the Office Manual when required.  Reporting major changes to the practice.  Co-ordinating the re-issue of hard copies and changes to the electronic copy

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent level) educated

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working in a professional services firm is highly desirable, but will consider other audit experience/ qualifications
  • Exhibit diplomacy, discretion and professionalism when approaching tasks and interacting with others
  • Good attention to detail and high levels of accuracy which is maintained under pressure
  • An understanding of the SRA Handbook, with a commitment to remain up-to-date with professional developments
  • Commercially minded
  • IT Literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and document management systems (Filesite)
