Expertise in advising upon:

  • Computer and internet crime
  • Large scale conspiracies – those with more than one defendant
  • Conspiracies to supply and import drugs
  • Offences such as burglary, robbery, serious assault and murder
  • Environmental and health & safety issues
  • High-value and serious fraud, money laundering

We regularly provide advice at the police station, representation (including appeals against convictions) at the Magistrates’ or Crown Courts and assistance in defending Customs investigations relating to drugs and VAT offences.

Job Purpose

To provide high quality administrative support to CLS1 fee earners.

 

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Typing digital dictation and preparing documents for dispatch ensuring accuracy
  • Photocopying/scanning documents and collating enclosures
  • Creation of Crown Court Folders
  • Liaising with Courts, CPS, Probation, Prisons and Counsel
  • Booking meetings and diarising key dates
  • Taking general enquiries and emailing them to the team or relevant fee earner
  • Opening new files and initial correspondence
  • Creating Slings / filing and maintaining filing cabinet
  • Requesting files or returning archives to storage
  • Dealing with telephone / walk in enquiries
  • Supporting fee earners via telephone / email etc.
  • Dealing with internal and external queries in a fast / effective manner
  • Preparing private bills and liaising with accounts
  • Proof reading typing from external typing service and amending for dispatch

 

Person Specification

Education

GCSE’ or equivalent at A – C or 6-9
