The department

Lewis Silkin’s advertising team is a market leading practice, which has been in the top tier of Chambers and Legal 500 for decades, with more lawyers listed as leading individuals in advertising and marketing law than any other firm.    

The team is an energetic and sociable group with an extremely impressive and varied client base working for a range of advertising and marketing agencies as well as many household name brand clients. 

In addition to the advertising and marketing practice, the Brands and IP group and Commercial team provides a converged offering for a broad range of services across media, entertainment, IP, digital, technology, brand protection, outsourcing, e-commerce, and privacy law.

Responsibilities

A rare opportunity has arisen for a 1-4 years PQE candidate to work within the team, predominantly within the advertising and marketing practice. 

We are looking for a lawyer with strong technical legal skills, excellent drafting and communication skills and a solid knowledge of IP law, with experience advising on advertising and marketing issues. 

We are looking for an individual with a broad experience of non-contentious commercial contracts experience, and will have considerable experience of drafting contracts within the advertising and marketing sector, such as celebrity endorsement agreements and agreements between clients and advertising agencies. 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in advising clients on advertising regulatory issues, such as dealing with ASA complaints, advising on IP infringement risks and compliance with the CAP Code.  
  • Experience may have been gained in private practice or in an in-house role with focus on advertising and marketing matters. 
  • Experience in advising clients directly and comfortable in taking on a wide and varied workload.
  • A  keen sense to engage in Business Development.
  • Excellent academics and strong interpersonal skills.
