The department

The job holder will provide support to the lawyers within the firm’s Data & Privacy and Technology legal practice areas and will be reporting to Head of Data & Privacy Legal Practice Group. The Data & Privacy Legal Practice Group is a cohesive cross firm group made up of practitioners from both divisions.

Responsibilities

The PDL will be required to focus on core practice development and professional support activities, including:

  • thought leadership in data;

  • creating and updating precedents and drafting notes addressing points of law and practice;

  • creating and updating practice notes and client technical notes covering key issues of law and practice;

  • creating and managing the production of guides, bulletins, newsletters and training targeted at clients and prospective clients;

  • assisting in the design and production of the practice group’s content for the firm’s website and intranet pages, including ensuring that know-how is appropriately stored, searchable and retrievable;

  • evaluating existing know-how and current awareness sources in the relevant practice areas and assessing their effectiveness;

  • identifying the know-how requirements and training needs of the practice area’s lawyers across both divisions;

  • liaising with the firm’s Learning & Development team to design appropriate skills training for the practice area’s lawyers;

  • participating in firm-wide committees and divisional and working groups as required;

  • arranging and promoting effective team meetings, CPD development sessions and training events;

  • from time to time, participating in internal and other data protection compliance programs.

Additional information

Candidate profile:

The successful candidate is likely to be an associate (5-7 years+ PQE) looking to move to a PDL/PSL role.  This role requires a solid understand of UK Data & Privacy law (and a background in technology law and transactions will be advantageous).

The candidate should be technically excellent and commercially astute.
