The firm

Lewis Silkin is a UK top-100 commercial law firm with offices in London, Oxford, Cardiff. Dublin and Hong Kong.  The firm is recognised by clients and industries alike as being distinct for its deep understanding, insight and advice to creative, innovative and brand-focused businesses; for its market-leading international practice in employment, immigration and reward; and for delivering pragmatic, commercial advice in a refreshingly human way.

With 60 Partners and more than 340 staff, the firm is structured around two key Divisions: Employment, Immigration and Reward (EIR); and Creators, Makers and Innovators (CMI).

The department

The EIR Division is one of the leading employment law practices in the UK, with 24 employment and immigration Partners and around 100 other specialist lawyers.

The team’s work comprises a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters for a diverse range of clients.  Our lawyers undertake a significant amount of business development, including giving seminars, producing Lewis Silkin branded publications and driving client relationships.  International advice is central to our practice and we are members of the Ius Laboris international alliance of employment lawyers.

Reporting Structure

Both roles will be based in our London office.  The successful candidates will work principally with the Partners that lead our High Court employment offering.

Responsibilities

While the successful candidates will undertake a range of employment work, there will be a significant focus on contentious matters and related advice for clients in the financial and professional service sectors.

We are looking for lawyers with experience of High Court employment disputes and arbitration.

Your typical workload is likely to include advising clients on:

  • high value breach of contract claims and arbitrations;

  • team moves, restrictive covenants and disputes concerning confidential information; and

  • complex employment contracts and LLP arrangements.

Senior Associate (4-6 years PQE)

Training

The Division’s training programme includes seminars and workshops given by external speakers and by our own internal experts.  We have dedicated Practice Development Lawyers who are responsible for maintaining know-how and precedents across the team, as well as the Lewis Silkin Business School which provides our Associates with the tools and skills necessary to develop.

The successful candidates will be allocated a Career Development Partner (CDP) who will have an overview of their long term career aspirations and progression.  We have an excellent track-record of developing our Associates and generating opportunities for Partnership.  Organic growth and a strong team culture is at the heart of our success.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with strong academics and who have worked within well-respected employment teams.  The successful candidates should have experience of, and a particular interest in, High Court litigation and arbitration.  We would welcome applications from commercial litigators looking to specialise in employment law.

No agencies please.
