With offices in London, Oxford, Cardiff, Belfast, Dublin and Hong Kong, we are recognised by clients and industry alike as being distinct for our unique culture, market-leading practice areas, sector focused approach and for providing solutions to complex, multijurisdictional business challenges, with a pragmatic and human touch. We have two things at our core: people — both ours and our clients’— and a focus on creative, tech and innovative businesses.

Our culture is encapsulated by an ethos of bravery and kindness, guided by our values of Integrity, Clarity, Unity and Excellence (our ‘I-CUE’). We aim to provide a supportive environment for our people, clients and wider community and embrace diversity & inclusion, ensuring people are able to bring their full selves to work.

The department

If you are a strong team player, have experience working in a high performing environment and, last but not least, enjoy a sense of team spirit and fun, this is a great opportunity to catapult your career.

You will form part of the market leading Commercial team, which deals with diverse and exciting range of work, within the creative, digital and commerce field.  The team’s work includes technology, e-commerce, consumer, sponsorship, talent agreements, data privacy, IP, franchising, distribution, agency, advertising, media and entertainment, media buying, sports, video games and gambling law.   Your passion should ideally cover several of these core areas of focus.  You may not have experience in all of them, but should have a willingness to learn and develop.

The Commercial team is currently primarily based in London and, while you will be encouraged to spend time in the London office, we are keen to find a candidate who is hard working, ambitious and keen to learn.  Wherever you are based, you will be supported by the Partners and other senior fee earners.

Our team is a fantastic, energetic and sociable group with an extremely impressive and varied client base, many of whom are household brand names, predominantly in the retail, technology, advertising and marketing, media & entertainment, professional services and sport sectors.  We are growing fast and have very ambitious plans to grow even further.

You will work with most of the Partners within the team.  You would have Partner supervision but you should also be comfortable in working independently to provide clear, commercially minded advice on the law as we pride ourselves on giving clients user-friendly, practical and easy to understand advice.

Whilst we have a separate Data Privacy team, data privacy is obviously an integral part of being a well-rounded commercial and tech lawyer.  Your workload will therefore inevitably involve some data privacy work and you will be expected within the first 12 months to achieve the IAAP CIPP/E accreditation, for which we shall provide support and funding.

We expect all of our associates to contribute positively and proactively to business development.
