The department

The Creators, Makers and Innovators team is made up of leading advisers for creative, innovative, tech and brand-focused businesses, offering a deep understanding of the industry sectors in which clients operate combined with real expertise across a wide range of legal services.

The team’s lawyers have decades of experience both within the creative industries and as legal advisers with in depth knowledge and experience of the many sectors that make up the creative world, including advertising and marketing, entertainment and media, fashion, hospitality, technology, retail and sports.

The team

You will form part of the Intellectual Property Team, with a focus on dispute resolution.  

Responsibilities

The successful individual will ideally be 2-5 years’ PQE with strong technical legal skills, and good experience of working on contentious intellectual property work, preferably across a range of rights  You should have experience of working in a medium or large private practice law firm.

The successful post holder will be working with market leading Partners. We welcome candidates who are able to display true commerciality both in relation to advising their clients and in seeking out business development opportunities for the practice as a whole.

Academic rigour will be an important component of this position, as will technical excellence but the firm will place the greatest importance on the candidates’ willingness and ability to contribute positively to the growth of the team.

The team is an energetic, informal and sociable group with an impressive client base, predominantly in the marketing, publishing, media, retail and technology sectors. 

The ideal candidate should have excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills and be able to run your own files with minimal supervision where appropriate. They will report to a number of individual partners/senior associates within the team in respect of individual assignments.

We are looking for a team player who will participate fully in all aspects of the life of this strong and growing group.

The successful candidate will also be expected to support the team’s marketing activities and contribute to the production of written material such as client guides, and prepare and deliver talks and seminars on occasion, so should be very keen to engage in Business Development.

Knowledge of retail, leisure, technology, automotive, financial services, marketing and/or media sectors would be advantageous.

IT skills required:

  • Competency in MS Office suite.

Educational and professional qualifications required:

  • Qualified UK lawyer with a current UK practising certificate.
  • Excellent academics.
