The department

The Cashier’s team led by the Head Legal Cashier works closely with the fee-earning departments to ensure that all client and matter transactions are completed in a timely and efficient manner. It is essential that the postholder has an excellent eye for detail. Training across the different roles within Cashiers will be given so it is an ideal role for someone who wants to learn all aspects of Cashiering. The team liaises with the Billing, Credit Control and the Finance Management teams so it is crucial to ensure open lines of communications and workflows are maintained across the teams as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Further to applicable training, key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Post Counsel and Expert Fees
  • Pay Counsel and Expert Fees
  • Check, collate and load foreign supplier invoices to Global Exchange
  • Post manual foreign supplier invoices
  • Pay manual foreign supplier invoices via internet banking
  • Pay foreign supplier invoices through Global Exchange
  • Check, collate and load inter-office invoices to Global Exchange
  • Post chargeable disbursements including couriers, Companies House and taxi fares
  • Review external post and distribute accordingly

Key requirements

  • Preferably a knowledge and experience of windows-based packages such as Microsoft Outlook and Word
  • Proficient using Excel
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience in a Cashier’s, Finance or Legal environment desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of Elite 3E desirable but not essential
