The team:

To provide truly outstanding client service we work as one team. Our Business Operations Group is made up of business professionals who work with our legal professionals to provide market leading expertise to our clients. The groups include our Finance & Risk, Buildings & Infrastructure, Marketing & People and C-Suite teams.

Our Marketing team play a crucial role in helping the firm achieve its ambitious growth plans. The team is aligned to the business, shaping, embedding and delivering against the strategy, helping to retain and attract new clients whilst putting the client at the heart of everything we do.

The team of around 30 are based in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester and London. They are multi-disciplined, offering a range of services including client and business development, digital, growth-led marketing, PR, content, communications and events for the firm. They pride themselves on understanding the changing marketplace, clients, legal groups and the sectors in which the firm operate to offer specialist knowledge and expertise.

The role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Business Partner to join our close knit Marketing team.

We are looking for someone to play a critical part in achieving growth through business development initiatives whilst assisting to grow our business to be one of the most successful legal groups in the UK Top 30. You will work closely with senior leaders to develop strategies for their area and put plans into action.

Your key duties will be:

  • driving business development initiatives forward across teams, regions or sectors
  • acting as a conduit between the business areas and the marketing specialisms team
  • encouraging, challenging and coaching partners and other fee earners with their own business development goals
  • working with the business and leading on key account planning
  • identifying targeting initiatives and developing go-to-market strategies alongside marketing colleagues
  • leading business development meetings with distinct teams
  • coaching individual lawyers seeking support on a 1:2:1 basis
  • talking to clients and prospects to introduce our teams and services
  • working with cross-firm teams to identify opportunities in key sectors
  • using a CRM and client analytics to identify and unlock new work opportunities
  • identifying new areas of referral and planning how best to leverage those relationships
  • researching partnership/sponsorship opportunities and working with the wider team to create event and activation plans

Skills and experience you will have:

  • 1-2 years’ experience as a BDM or be an experienced BDE looking to step up. Experience gained within a legal or other professional services environment is highly advantageous
  • experience in working with CRM systems. Experience with Dynamics and Introhive is preferable, especially if you have been involved in the rolling out of new systems
  • experience of managing client development programmes would be ideal however, not essential

We have hubs in Birmingham, Leicester, London, Milton Keynes, Nottingham and Stratford-upon-Avon. This role will be predominantly home based with travel as required by the business into one of our office hubs. This role will offer a blend of home working with travel as required to our office hubs.
