The team:

To provide truly outstanding client service we work as one team. Our Business Operations Group is made up of business professionals who work with our legal professionals to provide market leading expertise to our clients. The groups include our finance & risk, buildings & infrastructure, marketing & people and c-suite teams.

Our marketing team plays a crucial role in helping the firm achieve its ambitious growth plans. The team is aligned to the business, shaping, embedding and delivering against the strategy, helping to retain and attract new clients whilst putting the client at the heart of everything we do.

The team of around 30 are based in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester and London. They are multi-disciplined, offering a range of services including client and business development, digital, growth-led marketing, PR, content, communications and events for the firm. They pride themselves on understanding the changing marketplace, clients, legal groups and the sectors in which the firm operate to offer specialist knowledge and expertise.

The role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced content marketing executive to join our awesome marketing team on a 12 month fixed-term basis.

You'll play a key role in the team, taking responsibility for planning, implementing and delivering compelling, engaging and up to date content for our website, social media, campaigns, client communications, marketing collateral, case studies and award submissions. The development of all content is to fully support our growth objectives and promote the high quality work delivered by our legal professionals.

This role will suit someone who has a strong ability to write engaging and relevant material, holds the ability to work to deadlines and enjoys keeping up to date with current affairs.

Your key duties will be:

  • working with the marketing content manager to create and build great, accessible content to support the delivery of the KPIs of the team in line with the wider aims and objectives of the legal teams and firm as a whole
  • writing, proofreading, editing and publishing content to promote thought leadership, insights, products and services and fee earners by telling compelling stories through content, both non-digital and digital content (including website) implementing SEO best practice to drive engagement
  • supporting and guiding stakeholders and other content providers across the business to ensure best practice is being followed for the development of digital and non-digital content.  Guidelines will include brand, tone of voice, SEO, accessibility and other best practice
  • building brand awareness and promoting services and products to key audiences – e.g. trade organisations, local chambers of commerce etc. by creating dynamic and engaging content
  • assisting with the annual legal directories submission process including the marketing of the results – liaising with colleagues across the firm, collating and writing information, and finally submitting to the publications
  • managing the client communications programme (with the digital executive), ensuring the relevant content and messaging is published to the right audience in line with the monthly schedule of activity
  • distributing content across the firm encouraging and educating colleagues to amplify messages via social media profiles – including social media posts to make it as easy as possible
  • working with the digital team to improve our metrics of how effective our content is being against set criteria and feed into a monthly board report
  • bringing new ideas and concepts forward to develop innovative and effective ways of presenting content to address business and marketing challenges e.g. use of video, infographics, case studies etc.
  • communicating effectively to build and develop positive relationships with colleagues across the firm and external stakeholders where necessary
  • managing a wide range of stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective implementation of planned content activity
  • supporting the digital team in uploading content to the website

Skills and experience you will have:

  • a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a similar role. Experience gained within a legal or professional services environment managing multiple internal clients / stakeholders is highly preferable
  • experience of developing highly accurate, engaging and interest content based on news and service lines within a leading brand or organisation for both a consumer and business audience, often under time pressures
  • experience of confidently proofreading and editing content provided by others, taking into account SEO, to bring it into the firm’s style
  • experience of using a CMS to create, edit and publish website content, is preferable but not essential
  • experience of using, interpreting and presenting KPI reporting using Google Analytics or similar
  • an excellent level of written communication
  • the ability to assess visual communication to enable evaluation of motivating, accurate and effective communications

Key competencies you will need:

  • to have a client focused approach to content in all its forms – including evidence of developing compelling content, both written and visual, which effectively communicates complex ideas
  • to be innovative, self-reliant and have a determined approach to duties with an ability to work and think creatively on multiple projects while working to tight deadlines and sometimes under pressure
  • to be able to identify, extract, summarise and interpret relevant information from a broad range of sources to evaluate and develop insights
  • to be highly collaborative with excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate, present, negotiate and influence at all levels
  • the ability to coach colleagues informally in producing different types of content – to use in different ways across different platforms
  • to be highly organised; our small but efficient team produces circa 35 pieces of unique content per month –  as well as web copy, e-newsletters, magazines, marketing campaigns
