Our Team:

Our Risk team of around 10 people is based in the Birmingham and Leicester offices.  Reporting to General Counsel, the team takes a proactive approach and works closely with the firm to manage risk, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and embed a best practice culture across our eight offices. 

The role:

We have a brand new opportunity for an enthusiastic Administrator looking to join our Risk team on a fixed term of 6 months.

You will support the Risk Advisers to assist with complaints, assessing and filtering these to the relevant areas and maintaining an accurate record until the matter is closed.

You will be responsible for the effective delivery of all elements of this process – from acknowledgement of the issue, investigation and resolution, to reporting and trends analysis to reduce re-occurrence of issues. 

This role would suit someone with a proactive approach to problem solving, who enjoys and works well under pressure, and is looking for excellent development in a collaborative team.

You key duties will be:

  • supporting the complaints process and ensure an accurate record is maintained of all matters
  • ensuring all parties are kept up to date with the progress of the complaint in a timely manner
  • working closely with the Risk Advisers across the risk team to provide general administrative support, to include:
    • taking telephone calls and dealing with (or escalating) initial enquiries about risk and compliance issues including complaints
    • assisting with the Risk Team inbox and answering simple queries or delegating to relevant member of the team
    • supporting on paper and electronic filing
    • assisting with internal auditing of files / work areas to ensure compliance, to include the maintenance of records, assistance in risk and best practice improvement projects
  • reporting to the team on regulatory and legislative changes (identified through monitoring of a variety of sources) which could impact the relevant legal groups / the wider profession
  • assisting with SRA and other regulatory issues including updating and renewal of certification

Skills and experience you will have:

  • a minimum of 6  months’ experience of working in a legal environment, preferably within a risk and/or compliance team
  • excellent organisational skills
  • first-class IT skills
  • excellent communication skills – written, verbal and report writing

  • excellent attention to detail and accuracy, as well as the ability to prioritise workload

We have hubs in Birmingham, Leicester, London, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Solihull, Stratford-upon-Avon, Lincoln and Sheffield.  This role will be predominantly home based with travel as required into any of our office hubs.
