The team:

Our IT team is responsible for providing clients and staff with high quality relevant technology, customised systems and superior service and support to ensure our business needs are always met.

This is an ever changing and exciting area to work in as we constantly look for new and innovative ways to provide the most effective solutions to the business.

This role is to join a small independent team working to deliver significant IT and business change projects within a dynamic and growing legal business.

Based mainly in the Birmingham office, we are a relatively new department and as such there is the opportunity to help shape the focus and development of the team.

The role:

We have opportunities for an experienced and enthusiastic Business Change Project Managers to join our dynamic IT team. You will proactively work with the operations and internal business teams, to identify current and emerging business requirements and support any respective change delivery.

The role requires a broad set of skills and a high degree of flexibility and adaptability across all operational and business areas.

Your key duties will be:

  • managing and delivering of diverse and complex business change projects supporting short, medium and long-term business change initiatives across the firm, in alignment with the our firm’s vision and ambition
  • facilitating the delivery of requirements amongst multiple stakeholders by creating and delivering project work plans and identifying required resources and assigning responsibilities
  • meeting changing needs and requirements by managing change within the project environment and communicating any unauthorised exceptions to the project board and portfolio manager
  • managing risks and issues that will impact the project and assessing this against the plan to ensure that any exception scenarios are managed and given direction from the project board
  • managing the financial status of the project, and ensuring that this is regularly assessed against budgets and forecasts, as well as the benefits case for the project
  • facilitating design sessions across different functional teams (IT, business operations, fee earners, etc.) to ensure functional requirements, business outcomes and value propositions are outlined
  • overseeing the launch of any approved projects ensuring adherence to project deliverables and budgets
  • managing the day-to-day operational / delivery aspects of the projects including ensuring project documents are complete, current, appropriately stored and communicated up / down appropriately
  • acting as the liaison between all teams to ensure open communications and collaborative working is encouraged throughout the project delivery lifecycle while adhering to IT project delivery standards
  • directing and motivating the project team, giving clear direction and objectives during the project to ensure that the goals can be achieved
  • ensuring that there is a communications and stakeholder plan, and that communication to all stakeholders is achieved on a regular basis in line with agreed requirements
  • managing of the project business benefits case during the project to ensure the project is always viable, then handover to the business once implementation has been achieved
  • delivering all standard products during the project lifecycle, e.g. stage plans, highlight reports, etc. as well as contributing towards enhancements / updates to improve the processes further
  • managing, in conjunction with service delivery, to ensure the handover of products into a “Business as Usual” environment is transitioned smoothly and successfully
  • working on the completion of lessons learnt workshops and a post implementation review to ensure continuous improvement and evolution of project delivery

Skills and experience you will have:

  • a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • delivery of change management experience and dealing with multiple Projects
  • a demonstrable track record in the successful delivery of complex technical and service solutions in a complex environment
  • experience within the legal sector, consumer services industry, IT professional services is desirable, but not essential
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, stakeholders, managers, subject matter experts, colleagues, and third parties. Ability to adjust communication style, and influence others, as appropriate
  • the ability to identify, quantify, mitigate and resolve risks
  • strong Microsoft Project & Microsoft Excel skills
  • a good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice
  • a PRINCE2 qualification is highly desirable, but not essential
  • an Agile PM qualification is desirable, but not essential
  • an ITIL qualification is too desirable, but not essential

  • the ability to pull data from various sources to construct reports and business cases to solve business problems
  • a willingness to travel to and work from other locations as and when required
  • a willingness to be flexible, performing responsibilities not identified in this role specification, and assuming responsibilities as the firm’s needs change
