The opportunity:

The Development Manager will lead the learning and development team to empower learning across our business encouraging and supporting individuals to take ownership of their careers. Leveraging expertise, engaging content, tools, technology, and innovative design to scale learning and support individuals at all stages of their careers and lives.

The role will play a key part in strengthening the firm's leadership culture, building our organisational capability needs for business impact and growth. You will be focused on creating an innovative learning experience that caters to the varying needs of our people, with excellent communication skills, a natural flair for inspiring confidence and an ability to deliver on your ideas. Managing a small team, you will embody what collaboration stands for working alongside the team, coaching and mentoring them, driven to see them thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Redeveloping our culture of learning, building a robust learning engagement and communications plan for our group understanding the different personas and motivators within our group and teams.
  • Inspiring and developing others through being a thought leader and learning geek; sharing knowledge and insight from wider industries and networks.
  • Continuous development of our line managers to ensure they have the right skills and capabilities at the right time.
  • Anticipating the learning needs of our firm and business units, interpreting business performance needs and delivering inspiring learning solutions.
  • Driving, designing and delivering learning experiences via a variety of routes.
  • Working with our leaders and people business partners to understand their niche challenges, working to build talent density, creating constant talent conversations and actions.
  • Broadening the L&D proposition to include culture, wellbeing, health and early careers (Graduates, Trainees, Placements, Vacation Schemes, Work experience) into our development offering.
  • Enhancing our self-directed and live learning options; ensuring content is reflective of our culture; leveraging use of accessible content and resources.
  • Developing and enhancing routes to professional qualifications, enabling individuals to certify skills in a way they wish to specialise.
  • Enabling and empowering learning communities and other types of peer-to-peer learning experiences.
  • Working with the Head of Talent and Culture to drive innovation, looking for opportunities to make our business better, being brave with our actions that foster transparency, collaboration and trust.

Skills and experience you will need:

  • Previous substantial experience in learning experience design and implementation
  • Forward thinking and innovative, embracing the ever-changing L&D landscape and creative in how learning can be delivered.
  • To have a passion for development, and a natural coaching stye, able to help others get the best from themselves.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken, comfortable and skilled in presenting, as and when needed, to varying sizes of audiences.
  • Personal gravitas and credibility, with strong influencing and persuasion skills.
  • Excellent project management skills,
  • Strong sense of team and a highly collaborative approach.
