Meet the team

Our Marketing & People Team comprises People Business Partnering, Development, Talent & Culture and People Operations functions all focussed on building a high-performance and people centric culture with strong engagement and a reputation for developing talent and enabling success at all levels.

The responsible business team manage the delivery of the responsible business agenda pushing ourselves to be brave with our actions and embedding into all aspects of our business that is meaningful and authentic.

The opportunity

The Responsible Business Executive will play a key role in delivering our responsible business agenda (which is focused on three streams: People, Communities and Environment) and assisting to grow our business to be one of the most successful legal groups in the UK Top 30. 

You will:  

  • facilitate the delivery of the Responsible Business 2021 and 2022 agenda
  • monitor progress by collecting and updating ambitions/targets
  • co-ordinate monthly champion meetings across the three streams (People, Communities, Environment)

Your key duties will be:

  • leading on the implementation of our responsible business strategy to drive the strategy
  • leadership and coordination of our internal Responsible Business networks
  • updating reporting on all responsible business initiatives for external or internal requirements
  • acting as a key contact for all responsible business enquiries internally and externally, including leading our partnership with BITC
  • building our external reputation for responsible business from the inside out – promoting what we do and what makes SHMA authentic. Central point of contact for all bids/tender information and responses
  • monitoring, managing and coordinating reporting for RB, pledges and RB commitments

Skills and experience you will have:

  • proven ability in planning, organising, project management and delivery
  • ability to prioritise multiple work-streams and meet key deadlines.

Key competencies you will need:

  • Excellent written and presenting skills.
  • Excellent level of empathy and emotional intelligence is critical.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills with an ethical and transparent approach to working.
  • To be engaging and a strong influencer, able to collaborate and bring colleagues on board with new initiatives.
  • Resilience and comfortable working on multiple projects within a fast paced, fast changing working environment.

We have hubs in Birmingham, Leicester, London, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Solihull, Stratford-upon-Avon and Sheffield. This role will be a blend of home working and working from either our London or Midlands hubs.
