The opportunity

The role:

The role of the Facilities Supervisor is to facilitate the provision of services to clients and staff of Shakespeare Martineau by assisting the Facilities Manager and Health and Safety Manager to ensure the smooth running of facilities at their base office and by providing a well maintained, safe and secure working environment.

Your key duties will be:

  • monitoring the maintenance and upkeep of premises, liaising with contractors and engineers where necessary
  • monitoring office supplies (stationery and non-stationery, including but not limited to cleaning materials and catering supplies)
  • liaising with teams to ensure we have adequate supplies of stationery for large mailings
  • space planning, where necessary, and assisting with internal moves
  • the daily supervision of the facilities team
  • assisting with the implementation of the health and safety policy
  • acting as on site Fire Controller in the event of an evacuation
  • dealing with health and safety issues as they arise to ensure a safe working environment and discussing any concerns
  • implementing the firm’s health and safety policy
  • ensuring the facilities team provide an excellent support service
  • monitoring general housekeeping, ensuring the premises are tidy and walkways are clear and free of any trip hazards.  Ensuring fire exits are clear at all times
  • assisting with any of the above duties across all sites as required ensuring the smooth operation of facilities and health and safety across the firm
  • facilitating the document production service within the firm

Working hours are on a flexible shift basis covering 7.30 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30 am to 5.30pm on Friday, working 37 hours in total per week.  Where necessary, there may also be occasional weekend working.

Skills and experience you will have:

  • a minimum of 6 months in a supervisory position is desirable, not essential
  • 6 - 12 months experience within a facilities role is essential
