The opportunity

The role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic IT Business Analyst & Project Manager to proactively work with the Consumer & Volume business teams, identifying current and emerging business requirements. The role requires a broad set of skills and a high degree of flexibility and adaptability; elements of the role will require you to partner deeply with the Consumer and Volume business teams and with IT.

You will be involved in overseeing the launch of any approved projects and will work closely with the teams to develop the IT projects post-launch. Significant time will initially be spent considering three existing case management systems and working with the business teams to map workflows on these case management systems, or extended onto one pre-existing system or to consider the introduction of a new system. There will also be significant data/Management Information reporting.

Your key duties will include:

  • understanding the IT needs of multiple stakeholders and translating these needs into scoped IT projects for the Consumer and Volume business legal teams
  • understanding the firm’s IT strategy and the business strategy of the practice areas that the role supports; ensuring that the IT projects contribute to these strategies
  • facilitating the negotiation of requirements amongst multiple stakeholders
  • identifying the current and future-state business processes
  • helping the business stakeholders envision the future and how the IT projects can help the firm deliver Consumer and Volume legal services in a streamlined, competitive and profitable way
  • creating, analysing and validating detailed functional specifications
  • facilitating design sessions with the IT and Consumer and Volume business teams
  • pulling together an implementation team
  • delivering elements of system design including; data migration rules, business rules, templates or other detailed deliverables
  • working upon more than one system and ensuring that the projects enable the systems selected to be integrated and are able to talk to one another to deliver maximum efficiency and business value
  • as a regulated business, providing careful consideration to information flow and data requirements as well as making strategic decisions about what functionality belongs inside what system
  • supporting the Consumer & Volume business teams in documenting business cases to demonstrate benefits, risks and financial appraisals for projects to support robust investment decision making
  • overseeing the launch of any approved projects ensuring adherence to project deliverables and budgets
  • following launch, clarifying, updating and improving the business processes on the IT projects that have been launched
  • working both independently, with users to define concepts, and under the direction of the IT Manager and Volume & Consumer Business Operations Director
  • acting as the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams

Skills and experience you will have:

  • experience within the legal sector, consumer services industry and/or with a volume outsourcing provider is desirable but not essential
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers and subject matter experts
  • strong analytical and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • demonstrable track record of delivery in a complex environment
  • strong oral, written and presentation skills; ability to explain complexity easily to a non-technical stakeholder group
  • strong visual design skills used in creating information dense, easy to understand reports and dashboards
  • experience working with stakeholders and end-users to define, test, elicit and deliver technical and functional BI requirements by making use of Business Intelligence reporting tools
  • experience with Analysis Services and MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Progress
  • strong knowledge of relational, SQL and dimensional databases
  • Strong MS Excel skills

  • BCS Business Analysis International Diploma (desirable)
  • project management qualification (desirable)
