The opportunity

The role:

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our Infrastructure Team as a Project Engineer, supporting the existing infrastructure including server, storage, network, data and applications as well as some project work to improve and enhance key systems and processes.

As an experienced Project Engineer, you will have a solid background working within a busy IT Team acting as an escalation point for all issues from the service desk.

You will need a solid background in troubleshooting and problem solving complex issues across a broad range of applications and systems.

Your key duties will include:

  • implementing new technologies, both hardware and software into the firm’s IT Infrastructure
  • handling escalated calls from the IT Service desk 3rd line teams as required
  • administering and maintaining key components of our existing corporate infrastructure including Microsoft Systems (AD, Exchange, SQL), Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop and our VMware Estate
  • keeping operational documentation up to date
  • researching, recommending, planning and implementing new processes and systems into the wider team and infrastructure

Technical skills required:

  • VMware ESXi (5.x, 6.x)
  • Windows Server 2016, 2012 and 2008
  • Exchange 2016 and 2010
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
  • Microsoft Clustering technologies
  • Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policy and Certificate Services
  • Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop and Provisioning Services
  • Backup technologies such as Veeam, Symantec, and Rubrik

It would also be beneficial to have knowledge of:

  • VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2016
  • Microsoft Skype for Business
  • Microsoft SCCM and SCOM
  • Corporate Wireless, HPE Aruba
  • Web and eMail Security
  • Sophos UTM
  • Citrix XenMobile Mobile Device Management
  • SAN Technologies (Nimble and HPE StoreVirtual)
