Our multi-disciplinary real estate group has a long-standing reputation for delivering astute practical counsel. It comprises not only lawyers but also town and country planners and sector focused financial advisors. We therefore take pride in having one of the best integrated groups.

Our Residential Property team comprises some of the industry’s most experienced lawyers and chartered quality surveyors. We provide effective and efficient advice on residential and commercial transactions and have extensive experience in rural estates. With business-wide expertise in energy, planning and employment, we are on hand for every aspect of our client’s property requirements. We advise clients on the sale and purchase of residential properties with particular emphasis on residential freehold and leasehold sales and purchases including new builds. Our team covers the full range of conveyancing service including stamp duty land tax, the Land Registry, NHBC cover for new build properties, Transfers of Equity, remortgages, shared equity, Help to Buy and sales and purchases.

The opportunity

The role:

We are looking for an experienced lawyer to join our Residential Property team in Milton Keynes, part of the Real Estate group. This role is suitable for you if you are a Conveyancing Executive, Licensed Conveyancer, Chartered Legal Executive or Solicitor providing you can bring 3 years’ experience.

You will work with the team to provide a high quality legal service to clients in the sale and purchase of residential properties with particular emphasis on residential freehold and leasehold sales and purchases including new builds.

This opportunity is a fixed term contract for 12 months, however, there is possibility that it could lead to something for a longer period or potentially a permanent role.

Your key duties will be:

  • dealing with clients in a professional manner, maintaining close and regular contact
  • liaising regularly with individuals involved in transactions including lenders and agents
  • handling queries and enquiries efficiently
  • maintaining good file management
  • providing updates within specific timeframes to individuals and agents on progress
  • working to strict deadlines
  • initiating and attending business development opportunities
  • working with the national Team Leader to support business improvements
  • all relevant compliance measures, including those required by the Conveyancing Quality Scheme

Skills and experience you will have:

You will have been handling your own caseload with minimum supervision for at least 3 years, and will have:

  • a relevant qualification
  • experience in using a case management system

Key competencies you will need:

  • demonstrable business development successes and knowledge of the local market
  • a high degree of initiative and the ability to cope in a demanding environment
  • excellent organisational and prioritising skills
  • IT literacy with the ability to use case management systems
