Meet the team

Our multi-disciplinary Real Estate group is highly regarded by our clients and within the sector. It comprises not only lawyers but also town and country planners. We’ve brought experts into our services in planning, development, investment, landlord and tenant matters, social housing, construction and litigation with a particular emphasis on energy, housing, education, finance and investment funds.

We boast one of the largest planning teams in the country and have been identified as leaders in this field by both Chambers and Legal 500 for the last 18 years. Our highly-experienced Legal Planning team provide practical solutions to meet clients’ needs. Covering all areas of planning law, acting for commercial and residential developers, landowners and local authorities on both contentious and non-contentious matters, our team has the experience to meet diverse planning law requirements. Our experience includes dealing with planning appeals and inquiries, judicial reviews and statutory challenges, highways issues, section 106 agreements, section 278 agreements, advising on Community Infrastructure Levy and advising parties on the promotion and objection to Compulsory Purchase Orders and Development Consent Orders and related process.

The opportunity

The role:

We are looking for a 1-5yr PQE Solicitor / Associate to join our East Midlands’ Legal Planning team, part of the firm’s wider Real Estate group.  

This opportunity will be split across the Leicester and Nottingham offices; there will be flexibility as to the days spent in each office per week. 

The team can offer a great insight into a fast-paced legal environment with exposure to quality clients.  This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven Solicitor looking to join a thriving team.

Your key duties will be:

  • working alongside senior lawyers in Leicester and Nottingham on a range of planning legal work with your time being divided between the two offices as the needs of the business require
  • dealing with on a broad range of complex matters, and also building up your own caseload of matters
  • handling enquiries efficiently
  • liaising with clients in a professional manner
  • working to attract new clients and developing relationships with current clients
  • working to strict deadlines

Skills and experience you will have:

  • between 1-5 years’ previous experience in a similar role with particular exposure to a wide range of Legal Planning matters
  • a good technical knowledge of Legal Planning
  • strong IT skills
  • the ability to manage files effectively

  • the ability to cope in a demanding environment with strict deadlines
  • excellent organisational and prioritising skills
  • to be willing to attend marketing / networking events and contribute to marketing publications to develop the profile of the team

  • to work independently and as part of a team, as well as communicate effectively with people at all levels
