Meet the team

Our multi-disciplinary Real Estate group is highly regarded by our clients and within the sector. It comprises not only lawyers but also town and country planners. We’ve brought experts into our services in planning, development, investment, landlord and tenant matters, social housing, construction and litigation with a particular emphasis on energy, housing, education, finance and investment funds.

Our Social Housing Sales team is one of the largest in the Midlands specialising in all aspects of property acquisition and disposal for more than 60 Registered Providers across the country. We lead our competitors in the delivery of extracare housing for people over the age of 55. In the last 12 months we have disposed of more than 250 void residential dwellings, 450 extracare properties and 300 shared ownership units.

The opportunity

The role:

Are you an experienced Residential Conveyancer or Solicitor looking for a chance to drive your career in our fast-paced Social Housing Sales team?

Based in our Stratford-upon-Avon office, you will be working predominantly in the sales of affordable homes.  You will provide high quality services to a varied portfolio of clients and can enjoy knowing that your role working with charity housing providers can make a real difference

You’ll have good potential to develop in managerial responsibilities and will play an important part in contributing to the future growth and success of the team 

You don’t need previous Social Housing experience; what we are looking for is someone with solid residential conveyancing experience and the enthusiasm to specialise in this interesting and niche area. 

Your key duties will be:

  • liaising with clients in a professional manner
  • work with a team of experienced lawyers on a broad range of acquisition work; including:
    • dealing with outright sales
    • VRtB
    • RTA
    • Shared Ownership
    • Repossessions
    • Leasehold Schemes for the Elderly
    • Staircasing. 
  • assisting on large complex deals with appropriate supervision, and also building up your own caseload of straightforward matters
  • handling enquiries efficiently
  • working to strict deadlines

Skills and experience you will have:

  • up to 5 years’ experience of property conveyancing, social housing experience is preferred but not essential (for newly qualified candidates, relevant experience gained during your training contract is essential)
  • previous BD experience is desirable, but not essential
  • previous experience in managing own caseload
  • strong IT skills
  • the ability to manage files effectively
  • an appreciation of office financial procedures

  • a high degree of initiative and the ability to cope in a demanding environment
  • excellent organisational and prioritising skills
