Our Corporate and Commercial group undertakes various corporate, commercial, tax, banking and employment work at all levels. Our specialist teams combine unsurpassed expertise with a sound understanding of the corporate landscape to provide exceptional solutions for every aspect of our clients’ corporate and business law requirements.

Working with some of the UK’s largest financial institutions ensures our Banking team offers unrivalled expertise with high level knowledge of the issues affecting the sector and the businesses operating within it. The team advise on banking law for both lenders and borrowers, advising on a wide range of property finance, acquisition finance and corporate transactions with a specialism in the education and charity sectors. Our experience has developed through working with high street banks, challenger banks, peer to peer funders, invoice discounters and asset based lenders and corporate borrowers on a number of complex transactions.

The opportunity

The role:

We are looking for an NQ-3yr PQE Solicitor to join our Birmingham-based Banking team, part of our firm’s Corporate Commercial group.

You will provide a high quality service and support to partners and senior fee earners within the Banking team dealing with all aspects of banking law. 

 Your key duties will include:

  •  working alongside senior lawyers to provide assistance on all aspects of banking, including banking transactions and document production
  • assisting on large complex deals with appropriate supervision, as well as building up your own caseload of straightforward matters
  • liaising with clients in a professional manner
  • working to strict deadlines
  • completing Reports on Title
  • completing Property due diligence
  • carrying out post-completion administration
  • dealing with general correspondence
  • handling telephone calls, diary management and efficiently dealing with queries where appropriate
  • attending and being involved in business development and marketing events
  • developing relationships with clients

 Skills and experience you will have:

  •  up to 3 years’ previous experience gained dealing in banking matters within a law firm (for Newly Qualified candidates, significant relevant experience gained during your training contract is essential)
  • strong IT skills
  • the ability to manage files effectively
