The department

The practice focuses on technology and data protection matters and assists a wide range of international clients across various industries on technology projects, including in connection with large outsourcing deals, cloud contract and licensing arrangements.  This department works closely with the corporate and private equity practice groups, advising on the technology, commercial and data protection related issues involved in complex transactions, including with respect to emerging issues in big data, artificial intelligence, internet of thing, health care, blockchains and fintech. This department also assists the litigation, white collar crime and arbitration practice groups in relation to data protection aspects arising from the discovery or e-discovery of information in investigations, legal and arbitral proceedings.

Person Specification

The new hire will join the Intellectual Property and Technology; Cybersecurity and Privacy practice, a particular focus on technology and cybersecurity would be appreciated.  We are looking for an individual with 2-3 years' relevant post qualification experience in the London market (or experience in a similar common law jurisdiction), although those with less or more relevant experience will be considered on their merits.  The successful candidate will preferably have a genuine interest and both technical and legal background in technology and must be able to independently run technology projects.   As IT and data protection are areas in constant growth, it is key for the new associate to keep abreast of any legal, regulatory case-law and industry-specific development.  This will involve contributing to regular external and internal publications and attending key events on IT, data protection and cybersecurity topics.

Training and Development
