The department

Skadden represents insurance and reinsurance companies and their financial advisors and underwriters in a wide variety of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, reinsurances, portfolio transfers, public and private financings, regulatory advisory work, restructurings and reorganisations.  The firm has a particularly strong financial sponsor practice in the insurance space and an unrivalled position in Bermuda.

The firm represents all parties – purchasers, sellers, target companies, cedants, reinsurers and their boards of directors/management, as well as investment banking firms, financial advisors and financial sponsors.

Skadden also provides a broad range of regulatory advice to insurance and reinsurance companies, sponsors, investment banks and other non-insurance companies entities. In the regulatory area, we routinely advise on insurance law issues, including authorisations, regulatory capital issues, securities issuances, investments, solvency, permissible activities and insurance products.

We have assisted insurance sector clients in undertaking all types of corporate reorganisations and restructurings.

In 2023, we have consistently been the busiest team in the London Office, which is driving this recruitment.

The Role

We will be recruiting a corporate insurance associate with broad experience covering both transactional and advisory matters for a wide variety of insurance market participants, reflecting the strength and diversity of our insurance practice. 

Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with 2 - 4 years' relevant post qualification experience in the London market, although those with less or more relevant experience will be considered on their merits. 

The successful individual will have excellent written and verbal communication and as well as enthusiasm, drive and the ability to demonstrate initiative.   A high level of academic achievement is required.

They must be willing to participate vigorously in our sales and marketing activities.
