Associate

We are looking to grow our aviation team by appointing an experienced Associate (3 - 5 PQE). To be successful in this role, previous experience in aircraft finance and leasing or broader financial/commercial experience is necessary.

The role will involve working on non-contentious aviation matters, working on a wide range of aviation commercial, leasing and financing deals, acting for airlines, leasing companies, financiers and other organisations within the aviation industry.

The associate may also be exposed to some aviation litigation work. Work will be an even mix of contentious and non-contentious aviation law. On the contentious side, the case workload will involve aviation conventional claims as well as aircraft repossession under Cape Town Convention matters. On the non-contentious side, work will involve providing regulatory advice relating to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, transport of dangerous goods, commercial agency disputes with travel agents, aircraft registration, etc..

We are seeking someone who understands and has a passion for the aviation industry. Ideally will have experience of handling complex aircraft finance/aviation commercial matters and other aviation related matters gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level.

• Common law qualified
• 3-5 PQE
• Proficiency in written and spoken English is imperative while fluency in Arabic will be an additional advantage.
• Strong people and client management skills
• Responsible for developing new and managing existing client relationships
• Appetite to write prolifically and engage with local authorities and clients (Business Development).  
• Knowledge of the Aviation industry
• Knowledge of Aviation international treaties
• Experience relating to buying, selling & mortgaging private air jets
• Team player
