The Department

Our national Disease team offers advice and guidance on all aspects of industrial illness and disease for insurers, insurance suppliers and commercial organisations. It is a leader in the provision of claims prevention and management, not only handling and defending claims in the most advantageous way for our clients' businesses, but also helping to prevent future claims by helping to establish correct working practices by providing tailored training, in-house talks and workshops.

The role

We are looking for a Senior Paralegal, Legal Exec or Solicitor to supervise and manage a varied caseload of pre litigated disease cases and assist other fee earners with theirs.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage own caseload of pre litigated disease cases of various complexity and value
  • Provide technical assistance and supervision to the team
  • Achieve any financial and chargeable targets and any other KPIs set
  • Draft and perform legal research, investigations, attendance at conferences and Court (where applicable)
  • Drive timely settlement and make early decisions on strategy
  • Use case manager proficiently to include adherence to work flows, standard letters and daily use of action list
  • Complete Client MI procedures as and when required
  • Comply with Data Protection Compliance and Procedures
  • Comply with all client SLAs
  • Attend all relevant and required training and meet CPD requirements
  • Understand own capabilities and when to seek advice

The person specification

Essential

  • Disease claims handling experience, preferably defendant
  • Knowledge of CPR procedures and have proven technical ability
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets
  • Working as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility of approach and good time management skills
  • High degree of IT literacy
  • Knowledge of Lexcel procedure
