The Department

Our national Commercial Dispute Resolution team deals with a wide range of disputes affecting both private and public sectors. Our clients include UK Corporates, owner managed businesses and public bodies. Whatever the subject matter of the dispute, we take a pragmatic and commercial approach, focusing on the business needs of the client. We have particular expertise in dealing with disputes involving company/shareholder issues, intellectual property, technology goods and services, probate, financial services and harassment.

The role

Aim

To assist solicitors and partner in managing mixed commercial dispute work. This is a chance to join a well established team offering real progression opportunities. The individual will be supervised on cases and will have exposure to a wide range of commercial disputes work.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Assist solicitors in managing their caseloads of general commercial disputes cases
  • Assisting the team with all aspects of commercial dispute work, and once familiar with the team and the work have own case load of small cases
  • Some involvement in business development and profile raising initiatives
  • Complete Management information procedures as and when required
  • Achieve set targets/KPIs
  • Ensure relevant deadlines, compliance and quality measures are adhered to
  • Comply with relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ and the client’s values

  • Some exposure Commercial Dispute Resolution work

  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Methodical, organised approach
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines, targets and client protocols while maintaining high standards in terms of accuracy and quality
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
