The Department

Our Information Systems team is made up of many teams that work together to support Weightmans' information systems and infrastructure. The teams include: development; operations; project services; and support.

The role

We are looking for a Data Scientist that will help us discover the information hidden in our data, and help us make smarter decisions to deliver a better service to our clients and improve the efficiency of our business.   You will develop, build and advocate data-fuelled products that help our customers improve outcomes.

Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action and developing data-driven solutions to difficult business challenges. 

 

The person specification
  • Strong experience of building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SQL, etc.

  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, predictive modelling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
  • Proven ability to drive business results with data-based insights.

  • Experience with data visualisation tools, such Tableau, QlikView etc.
  • Ability to create meaningful data visualizations that communicate your findings and relate them back to how your insights create business impact.
  • Great communication, leadership and team working skills
  • Desirable to have Master’s or PHD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field.
