The role

Main purpose of role

To manage own caseload of private client work and deliver great client service.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage own caseload of private client work, including high value/complex probatework and estate planning for high net worth individuals under supervision of experienced STEP member

  • Assist other case handlers in the team and wider department with their cases as may be required

  • Advise and take instructions from clients in relation to their financial affairs

  • Travel to and attend upon clients

  • Prepare and file various correspondence, notes and documentation

  • Assist with marketing the services of the team and wider department

  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targetsKPIs

  • Ensure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered to

  • Comply with relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures

  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

The person specification
  • Qualified solicitor or soon to qualify and wishing to specialise in private client law

  • Keen interest and experience in all aspects of private client law with exposure to a broad range of work including trust administration

  • Interested in working towards STEP qualification

  • Some business development skills and experience or interest in developing these

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organisation skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets

  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

  • Flexible, pro-active and team-orientated approach
