The Department

The Regulatory Department is very diverse, offering a broad range of expert advice to healthcare professionals facing possible criminal and professional regulatory sanctions, Trusts and organisations on issues such as best interest decisions to DPA requests and inquests, as well as organisations and individuals facing Healthy & Safety, criminal and other regulatory prosecutions.

The role

We are seeking a Regulatory Solicitor to manage a varied caseload of health and safety, healthcare regulatory and criminal defence.  We are seeking someone who is excited about this challenge and will embrace this variety of work.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Specialise in acting on behalf of various organisations, individuals and insurer clients
  • Manage a caseload of files, primarily health and safety cases, but also general crime and healthcare regulatory cases
  • Attend applications and hearings at court, including travel, and accompany counsel where necessary
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
  • Ensure relevant deadlines, quality measures and KPIs are adhered to
  • Comply with relevant policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

The person specification
  • Qualified solicitor
  • Previous regulatory experience is essential
  • Experience working with insurer clients is desirable
  • Advocacy experience is desirable
