The Department

Accidents involving motor vehicles give rise to countless claims and legal actions, affecting every kind of business and non-commercial organisation and their insurers. The sheer volume of cases, and the constant possibility of major costs and resources being involved, can impact seriously on the operational performance of any of the parties involved.

What is needed most in this situation is a service that can help process cases with maximum speed and efficiency and achieve the most satisfactory settlements possible. Weightmans' Motor team is a market leader in this field offering a full service with dedicated teams dealing with fast track, multi track, fraud, credit hire, indemnity issues and representation at inquests and criminal prosecutions.

The role

To work as part of a team, assisting with all aspects of administration as per instructions from fee earners in the team.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • General file maintenance

  • Opening new client files

  • Closing files and archiving

  • Carry out general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, key dating, preparation of counsel’s bundles etc.

  • Finance queries/billing such as cheque requests, quarterly billing, client balances, aged debt, invoices and general finance queries

  • A small element of typing may be required – e.g. typing attendance notes from dictations.

  • Carrying out any other tasks that fall within the aspects of the role or the wider teams

The person specification
  • Previous experience of working in an office, preferably in a legal environment

  • Team player

  • Show initiative and be self-motivated

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Excellent communication skills
