Solicitor or Legal Executive

Our Casualty team provides a full, expert service in defending public and employers' liability claims, public sector and claims against the. Weightmans' team is second-to-none in providing defendant litigation services in these specialist areas. We operate on a national basis with dedicated casualty, public and police teams.

Working in the Casualty team in Manchester to assist predominately the Local Authority/Casualty fraud lead Partner but also to handle own caseload of predominately fast track and some multi-track claims from local authority and insurance clients, with a particular focus on social services/abuse claims.   

Types of law:

• Predominantly PL claims but to include EL , social care/abuse, highway claims and all type of fraud claims
• Housing disrepair
• Property damage

You may also be required to carry out tasks that fall within the wider remit of the role. 

Experience of handling/assisting on social services cases/abuse claims is essential

Experience of defending litigated claims, preferably claims against public authorities

Knowledge of local authority clients and insurers  in the region preferable.

Previous experience at managing defendant EL/PL fraud claims is preferable

Genuine interest in fraud

Willingness to present cases in the county court

Excellent knowledge of the CPR and litigation

Excellent IT skills

Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets

Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative

Flexible approach to work and a willingness to travel
