The Firm

Weightmans is a leading national law firm, with over 1300 employees based across various office locations across England and Scotland. Having been recognised as the leading legal employer at the annual Britain's Top Employers awards 2021 and achieved record rankings in Chambers UK, we are immensely proud of the work we carry out for our clients and the culture we provide to our people.

The role

The firm has a vacancy for a versatile health & safety and environment professional with some very special qualities, to undertake a varied and challenging role.

Although the precise shape of the role is open for discussion, it is likely to entail a number of diverse elements, including:

  • participating in the strategic development and promotion of the Firm’s HR Rely product
  • providing HS&E consultancy and audit services for clients
  • delivering bespoke and accredited HS&E training courses
  • working alongside our lawyers in advising upon current client HS&E matters and in creating cutting edge training events, including mock trials

The person specification

Although not essential, the role will particularly suit somebody with experience such as:

  • someone with a sales background
  • a safety manager in industry
  • a deliverer of high quality training
  • an HSE or local authority inspector

We anticipate that the individual appointed will take a lead role in developing the firm’s services in these areas, hopefully leading to a second appointment and/or the creation of a network of external consultants in the short-medium term.

The successful candidate will be a highly-motivated team player with sound commercial instincts and an entrepreneurial spirit. Applicants must have superb communication skills and the ability to understand and empathise with the issues facing clients of all shapes and sizes, drawn from a wide range of business sectors.

The role will be based in Manchester but will entail travel across England and Wales, and possibly further afield. The successful applicant is likely to be trained to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent.
