The Department

Our Wills, Trusts and Estates (formerly Wills, Tax, Trusts and Probate) team was recognised as a 'superior' team in Legal 500, 2011 edition, reflecting our enviable reputation for advising clients on all their personal legal needs. We are proud to provide a personal, transparent and efficient service by a team which includes fully qualified members of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) as well as members of Solicitors for the Elderly. Understanding the importance of careful estate planning to help provide for future generations, we offer lifetime and post-death planning to a diverse range of clients.

The role
  • To handle (with assistance from two part-time administration assistants) the incoming and out going centralised post for the national Wills, Trusts and Estates team;
  • To manage the archiving of Wills and other documents for the national team;
  • To support our Will database project; and
  • To assist and support the team of solicitors on their caseloads of private client work and deliver great client service.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Support the national WTE team in respect of handling of both incoming and outgoing post and documents;
  • Supervise two part-time administration assistants in respect of the centralised post function for the national team;
  • To archive incoming documents and managing the retrieval of documents from our main archive department;
  • To assist in delivery of our Will database project:
    • Data entry of client details on new database;
    • Contacting clients;
    • Arranging Will review meetings with solicitors in the team;
    • Archiving of new Wills and logging new clients on the database;
  • Filing and scanning documents as required;
  • Open files and prepare client engagement letters for members of the team;
  • Ensure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered to;
  • Comply with relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures;
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values;

  • Previous experience of working within a similar role
