The Department

We are looking for a junior (Newly Qualified) private equity associate with some experience acting in the real assets space – i.e. infrastructure, energy (although extensive experience is not essential).  The role will be transactional focussed working for some of the premium funds in the real assets space, eg Antin Infrastructure Partners, AMP Capital, Icon Infrastructure, OMERS Infrastructure, Macquarie, First State etc.  The successful candidate will be an associate on the team working closely with practice head James MacArthur and finance partner, Paul Hibbert.  The candidate must be from a high quality firm, with good drafting, organisational and negotiation skills, be hard working and a good team player.  There will be significant opportunities to become involved in business development and to play an integral part in growing the practice.  Experience doing the corporate element of real estate deals for private equity funds would also be useful.

The Role

1. Carrying out due diligence on potential acquisition targets; preparing due diligence report and reporting to partner and client;

2. Drafting documentation – resolutions; corporate documentation; ancillary agreements as required;

3. Attending client meetings;

4. Assisting senior associates and partner with respect to all aspects of client matters;

5. Carrying out research and providing advice on legal matters.

Person Specification
  • Qualified lawyer;

  • Experience of working at a large City / International firm;

  • Good communication and organisational skills;

  • Ability to work as a team and contribute to its success;

  • Ability to assess, draft and update policies and precedents ensuring stakeholder consultation where appropriate;

  • Solutions orientated with a commercial and pragmatic approach;

  • Client service focussed and ability to take initiative;

  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines;

  • Resilience and ability to interact with people at all levels in a constructive and polite manner.
