Summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Legal Secretary to join the Probate department in our Beverley office.

The Department

The specialist team has over 100 years’ collective experience of private client matters. They take pride in being trusted advisers, providing comprehensive and pragmatic advice on a day to day basis.

The team represents a wide range of clients, with particular expertise in providing advice to farming families, business owners, lottery winners and people with disabilities/their carers. The day to day work covers all aspects of estate planning, with particular reference to family succession, asset protection, tax mitigation and mental capacity as well as Wills, Estate and Trust Administration, Powers of Attorney and Deputyship Applications.

The Role

The sucessful candidate will provide support to Partners and Fee Earners in the Probate department.

Duties will include
  • Proactively manage diaries;
  • Assist with account queries;
  • Maintain client information spreadsheets/databases;
  • Arrange internal and external meetings;
  • Answer and make telephone calls;
  • Assist with the booking of travel arrangements;
  • Create and format documents proficiently;
  • Effective prioritisation of tasks whilst managing a full case load;
  • Maintain a level of individual knowledge required for the role;
  • Effective work with fee earners and secretarial team members across the whole business;
  • Help and maintain a clean office and clear desk;
  • Handle confidential information in line with the Firm’s data security protocols;
  • All administrative tasks;
  • Producing and amending correspondence, documents, reports, emails, attachments from a variety of sources, in house style in line with the firm’s specific systems/procedures;
  • Formatting and amending of documents;
  • Big Hand transcription;
  • Liaising with Team Leader/Fee Earners and PA’s as appropriate in relation to document production matters and queries;
  • Effectively managing workloads to ensure all deadlines met.
Qualifications
  • Experience of Probate desirable but not essential.

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • An excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages;
  • Strong command of English spelling, punctuation and grammar;
  • Proven ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to show initiative and work as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills;
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills;
  • Accurate keyboard skills and attention to detail;
  • IT Literate;
  • Experience of diary organisation / management;
  • Understanding and adopting the Firm’s values and behaviours.
