An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant and Financial Analyst to join the Accounts department in our Grimsby office.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing the Management Accounts and numerical information for the Firm in a way that is understandable to a non-financial audience. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance and stakeholders across the business to analyse and comment on the Firm’s financial information.

Duties will include
  • Support the Firm and its Partners by providing clear, timely and relevant data.
  • Assisting the Operational Heads of the business to facilitate the preparation of the annual budget. Working with them to analyse and forecast spend.
  • Providing financial input on business decisions relating to the Firm achieving its strategic vision and goals.
  • Supporting the Head of Finance and COO in the production of financial reports set out in a way that is understandable to a non-financial audience.
  • Present financial information to the Head of Finance, COO, Heads of Department and the wider Partner team.
  • Review current reporting and research with intended audience to propose improvements.
  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts in line with reporting timetables and policies inclusive of full variance analysis to budget and prior year.
  • Provision of information for the annual statutory accounts and tax computation.
  • Manage the annual audit process to ensure statutory accounts are produced within the required deadlines.
  • Work with the auditors for the consolidation of all the accounts at year end into Companies House format.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Dealing with the Equity Partners’ accounts (i.e. tax, drawings and other elements).
  • Work alongside the Operational Change Manager on improvement projects.
  • Development of the Firms Business Information tool to incorporate KPIs and ease of dissemination of information to the Partners.
  • Working with the IT Development Team to extract reports from the system to provide analysis and commentary to support business decisions and meet external reporting requirements.
  • Driving the Firm towards efficient processes and a paperlight approach.
  • Engage with the finance team to encourage cross training and development of the rest of the team.
  • Coaching and training the team members.
  • Understand the Firm’s vision and strategy to ensure team members have the tools to deliver.
  • Provide cover for Head of Finance during annual leave period.
Qualifications
  • Management Accountant experience within the legal or professional service sector would be preferred but not essential.  
  • Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent).
Skills Required

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical skills with an interest in interrogation of data.
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience of computerised accounting packages (in particular Liberate).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Able to manage effective relationships with a number of stakeholders.
  • Proactive and able to demonstrate initiative.
  • A team player able to motivate and develop other team members.
  • Experience of the SRA regulations and VAT is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding and adopting the Firm’s values and behaviours.
