The Role

The successful candidate will be involved in providing a cost collection service and financial hygiene assistance to fee earners, Partners, and staff.

Duties will include

Credit Control

  • Cost collection for all branch offices using the credit control functionality in Liberate.  To include telephoning clients and sending reminder letters and emails.
  • Manage and process cost collection for the builder clients in the plot sales teams
  • Produce statements of account for clients as required.
  • Deal with queries from clients and fee earners.
  • Produce regular statements of account for Local Authority clients and other Recoveries clients.
  • Obtain authority to pass clients to the Recoveries department for debt collection.
  • File paid and unpaid bills.
  • Produce management reports where required.
  • Monitor Employment Advice Line matters in respect of billing and credit control.
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Credit Control and Financial Hygiene Manager in line with credit control procedures.

Financial hygiene

  • Promote and provide effective financial hygiene assistance within the business using management report data and individual Matter Maintenance Reports (MMR)
  • Undertake MMR training with each new fee earner at the point of the issue of their first return
  • Check for inactive matters that can be closed and archived from the system
  • Liaise with cashiers regarding file closures and any postings that are required
  • Check for client account balances after the legal transaction has ended
  • Check for unpaid bills ensuring that they are in the credit control system
  • Check for unbilled disbursements and liaise with fee earners to ensure they are billed to the client
  • Check WIP level – should the matter be interim billed?  Should it have a funding type code to exclude from interim billing?
  • Check that each fee earner has completed and returned their MMR and chase where applicable
  • Work with the rest of the team to ensure each Fee earner understands what is required and is regularly seen on a one to one basis
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • GCSE Maths & English grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
