The role

Legal Secretary to partners Richard Tinham, James Duncan, and John Hiscock, solicitors Mike Daley and Josh Billig and trainees in the team from time to time.

Specific Duties:

  • To undertake all typing and word processing requirements including dictation on BigHand
  • Type and undertake amendments to legal documents and correspondence to a high standard using advanced word processing skills including, auto-numbering and formatting, footnotes, comments, cross references and compare
  • Arrange meetings, lunches, dinners and schedule diaries
  • Liaise with clients and book meeting rooms
  • To make and receive telephone calls and ensure messages are relayed quickly and accurately
  • Maintain confidentiality of all work
  • To set-up and maintain files in an orderly and up to date manner and ensure file maintenance and compliance
  • To obtain billing guides, prepare bills and narratives and accounts data
  • Assist and co-ordinate any marketing initiatives and prepare PowerPoint presentations
  • To chase any outstanding bills as appropriate and liaising with credit control
  • Completing expense forms
  • Time entries
  • Client care letters, and client/matter set ups using firm database
  • File closures and archiving
  • Regularly maintain the client/business development database and updating with monthly marketing activities
  • Producing structure diagrams for corporate transactions using SmartDraw
  • Any other duties as reasonably required

Client base and type of work

Mixed corporate and commercial disciplines, with a large amount of real estate orientated transactional work.

Aims of the department

To continue building its presence and profile in the corporate real estate and high net worth arena, and growth of client relationships and business activity consistent with its related Business Plan.

Candidate specification

The role will require someone with exceptional word skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and manage a very busy workload for a variety of differing personalities and seniorities.

Recent work highlights

Completion of joint venture arrangements between Barratt and TfL. Advising on the sale of an established UK garage group to a private purchaser. Various joint ventures for development of land in London and nationally. Advising a family office on a contract to acquire a corporate jet.
