The role

We are a Top 100 UK Law firm and are advertising for an experienced credit control manager to join our team.

Use of 3E would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have between 2 and 5 years credit control experience and looking to further their career in the Legal Sector and manage a team of two other credit controllers.

You will be working within a small team and be assigned your own departments to manage the aged debt as well as overseeing the entire credit control function and management of the credit control team.

Client base and type of work

The main responsibilities of the Credit Control Manager will be:

  • Produce Client Statements

  • Send Reminder letters progressing to LBA

  • Issue Small Claims through Money Claim Online

  • Review and report on aged debtors.

  • Regularly reviewing the process and procedures to reduce debtor days

  • Regularly meet and negotiate terms with third party debt collection agencies.

  • Manage write-offs, bad debt provisions and setting up of payment plans.

  • Telephone & Email clients

  • Negotiate Payment plans in conjunction with Partners

  • Dealing with internal and external queries

  • Allocate daily payments into Office account

  • Take Card payments online (Portal) and manually (PDQ)

  • Setting up monthly Partner meetings to discuss aged fees

  • Assisting the finance team with work including posting office receipts and month end billing process.

  • Assist with the year end audits both SRA and LLP.

  • Provide FC with high level cashflow of the firm.

  • Review and improve processes.

  • Managing a team of credit control officers.

Candidate specification

The successful Legal Credit Controller will:

  • Previous experience of end-to-end credit control and accounts receivable processes

  • Staff management experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills especially during difficult customer negotiations

  • Ability to build relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Be able to follow instruction, work independently and proactively

  • Work accurately and efficiently

  • Have confidence in dealing with Partners, Fee Earners and External Clients

  • Be adaptive and responsive

  • Have knowledge and adhere to Solicitor Accounts Rules

  • Uphold confidentiality and private matters

  • Use of Excel
