The role

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with excellent knowledge of Elite 3E who has worked with financial systems and process mapping projects in a Law firm. 

Winckworth Sherwood is currently in the process of migrating from Thomson Reuters (TRE) Envision to TRE Elite 3E. We are looking for a Financial Business Analyst who will help us define, document as well as bring with them their 3E knowledge as part of the process of documenting and delivering best practice in order to meet the firm’s requirements. There may be opportunities to extend the contract or become a permanent member of the team to work on other projects across the business.

  • Collaborate with all 3E SMEs and understand current functions and workflows and develop in-depth functional and operational knowledge while assisting with development of future policies
  • Assist both Finance & IT by being the go to person for providing subject matter/3E process expertise to stakeholders across the business
  • Participate in the current UAT2 practice management system project and assist by carrying out methodical testing and document results in close collaboration with the relevant SMEs
  • Produce current versus to-be 3E process maps for all Finance work flows
  • Document workflows that map technical data with non-technical documents for the end-user, work with internal developer for any in-house workflow or process (e.g. CMI, Matter Closure, Compliance workflows)
  • Conduct workshops and meetings on proposed improvements (where necessary) as part of mapping finance and legal processes
  • Maintain all core WS-3E functional mapped processes including the 3E security processes in Netdocuments central 3E Project folder
  • Work with the relevant project teams to guide the direction of internal reporting output as well as all other firm reporting requirements
  • Work closely with the IT Project Manager on relevant projects
  • Help analyse and improve data quality where necessary
The team

The role will sit in between the IT and Finance Team and will require close collaboration with both the Finance and relevant IT members- e.g. Project Manager/Developers.

The WS IT Team is a busy and dynamic team constantly on the go with numerous digital transformation projects underway every year. The team is responsible for implementing IT operational processes, policies and procedures in order to provide a secure and reliable environment whilst delivering responsive, effective and timely IT support service. Over the years we have taken a “cloud-first” approach to delivering systems as well as infrastructure that enables partners and staff to work in an agile manner. This means our lawyers and support staff can work and respond to clients’ needs wherever they are - in the office, at home or on the move.

Technology is a key enabler to the firm’s success and a continuous improvement ethos and collaborative approach to solutions is essential within the IT function.

Candidate specification
  • A minimum of 5 years experience
  • An experienced finance BA with a transactional systems background, good accounting knowledge and strong aptitude for finance systems
  • Aptitude for learning and using financial and management information systems
  • Ability to train & empower other finance staff on Finance-related topics, including policies and systems
  • Knowledge of process management and standardisation  is essential
  • Understanding of accounting principles and group structures
  • A good knowledge of law firm finance systems and in particular Elite 3E is essential
  • Competent understanding of legal IT
  • Good fact finding and investigation skills in particular around project issues
  • Problem-solving skills with focus on creative, yet pragmatic solutions
  • Flexibility to handle multiple projects simultaneously in an environment with shifting priorities
  • Ability to adapt to and implement change, including interpreting requirements to deliver outcomes in line with the Firm’s policies
  • Initiative and desire to get the job done, with commitment to high standards
  • Proven stakeholder management, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
  • Capable of building credibility, developing relationships and effectively communicating with law firm management by written and oral means
  • Any 3E Reporting skills a plus

Normal office hours may vary from team to team – but is usually 9.00am to 5.30pm
